Chat during the meeting

Select Chat (Show conversation) in the meeting controls. A red dot means there's a new message. The chat opens on the right side.

Chat before or after

  • Before: right-click the meeting in your Teams calendar and select Chat with participants.
  • After: find the meeting in your Chat list (it has a meeting icon), or right-click the meeting in your calendar and select Chat with participants.
  • Recurring meetings share one chat, so earlier messages stay there.

Who can see it

  • Everyone invited can use the chat before, during, and after the meeting.
  • Guests and people from outside NCU can only chat while they're in the meeting.
  • In a channel meeting, the chat shows up in the channel for all members.

Keep sensitive information out of meeting chat. See Using Teams with Sensitive Data.
