Overview
Learn how to take various types of screenshots on your Windows device. Screenshots can often assist the IT Service Desk in troubleshooting user issues.
Taking Screenshots
Taking a screenshot of the entire screen
- Press the Print Screen button on your keyboard. This will send an image to the clipboard.
- Paste the screenshot into a program such as Word or Paint by open new/existing document and hitting CTRL-V. Alternatively, you can also right-click where you want to paste the image and select Paste from the context menu.
Taking a screenshot of a single window / application
- Select the application you want to screenshot
- Paste the screenshot into a program such as Word or Paint by open new/existing document and hitting CTRL-V. Alternatively, you can also right-click where you want to paste the image and select Paste from the context menu.
Taking a screenshot of a portion of the screen
- Click the Start button and type snipping in the search box.
- Select Snipping Tool from the list.
- Using your mouse, left-click and drag across the desired area of your screen, and then release.
- A window will open displaying your screenshot.
- Click one of the buttons on the toolbar to either Save, Copy or Email your screenshot.
