Overview
You can organize the people in Contacts using labels.
Using Google Contacts
Access Google Contacts
- Open Gmail.
- Click the button in the upper-right corner of the screen.
- Select Contacts from the drop-down.
Create a group
- Go to your Google Contacts.
- On the left under Labels, click Create label.
- Type a name, then click Save.
Add contacts to a group label
- To select contacts, check the boxes next to their names.
- In the top right, click Label icon (Manage labels).
- Choose the groups you want to add the contacts to. You'll see a blue checkmark appear next to the groups you chose (You can add contacts to multiple labels).
- Click Apply.
Email a group
- Open Gmail.
- In the top left, click Compose.
- In the "To" field, start typing the group name, then select the group from the list that appears.
- You'll see a list of contacts in the "To" field.
- Compose your message.
- Click Send.
Remove contacts from a group
- Go to Google Contacts.
- On the left, click a group name.
- Select contacts to remove by checking the boxes that show up next to their names.
- In the top right, click Label icon (Manage labels) .
- Uncheck the group name.
- Click Apply.
Edit or delete a group
- Go to Google Contacts.
- On the left under Labels, click to the group you want to rename.
- Click the Trashcan and select one of the following:
- Keep all contacts and delete this label
- Delete all contacts and delete this label
- Click Delete.
Undo changes and recovering deleted contacts
If you make changes that you are not happy with or delete contacts by mistake, you can roll back changes in Google Contacts
To undo changes:
- Go to Google Contacts.
- Click More on the left menu.
- Click Undo changes.
- Click Confirm to save your changes.
