How To: Install Software with Software Center

Summary

Learn how to install approved software on your NCU Windows computer yourself with Software Center, check install status, and request software that isn't listed.

Body

Software Center is like an app store for your North Central University Windows computer. You can install approved software yourself, without an administrator password.

Install software

1

Open Software Center

Select Start, search for Software Center, and open it.

2

Pick the software

On the Applications (Available Software) tab, select the app you want.

3

Install it

Select Install. It installs in the background.

4

Check progress

The Installation Status tab shows how it's going. Installed Software shows what you already have.

On a Mac? Use Self Service instead. Search for it in Spotlight or Launchpad.

Don't see what you need?

Software that isn't listed has to be reviewed and added by IT first. Submit a request through Software Installation & Packaging, or Software Purchasing and Licensing if it needs to be bought.
