How To: Map Network Drives in Windows

Overview

If your Network Drives are missing, you may need to re-map them. This article will walk you through the steps of mapping the N and P drives on your Windows machine.

This can only be done on an NCU issued machine. If you are off campus, you must connect to the VPN to map the drive.

 

Mapping Network Drives

1. Open File Explorer from the taskbar or the Start  menu, or press the Windows logo key  + E.

2. Select This PC from the left pane. Then, on the Computer tab, select Map network drive.

3. In the Drive list, select a drive letter. 

4. In the Folder box, type the path of the folder or computer.

  • For the N drive, enter \\ad.northcentral.edu\main\groups
  • For the P drive, enter \\ad.northcentral.edu\main\users2\[USERNAME]
    • [Username] being your NCU username

5. To connect every time you log on to your PC, select the Reconnect at sign-in check box.

6. Select Finish.

 

  • 1. Open File Explorer from the taskbar or the Start  menu, or press the Windows logo key  + E.

  • 2. Select This PC from the left pane. Then, on the Computer tab, select Map network drive.

  • 3. In the Drive list, select a drive letter. (Any available letter will do.)

  • 4. In the Folder box, type the path of the folder or computer, or select Browse to find the folder or computer. To connect every time you log on to your PC, select the Reconnect at sign-in check box.

  • 5. Select Finish.
