Won't turn on

1

Check the power

Plug in the charger and make sure the outlet works. Look for a charging light. A fully drained laptop may need 15 minutes on the charger before it starts.

2

Unplug everything else

Disconnect docks, USB drives, and extra monitors, then try again.

3

Force a restart

Hold the power button for about 10 seconds until the computer is fully off, wait a few seconds, then press it again.

Blue screen or stuck starting up

1

Write down the message

A blue screen shows a stop code, like CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED. Take a photo with your phone. It helps IT find the cause.

2

Restart

Most blue screens happen once and don't come back after a restart.

3

Unplug new devices

If it started after you plugged something in or installed something, unplug or undo it and restart.
