How Do I Locate My Computer's Name?

Overview

If you need to contact the IT Service Desk for assistance, you may be asked to provide the device name for your computer. All campus computers are given a unique computer name, and this name should appear on a label located somewhere on your computer.

Finding Your Device Name

Windows Devices

1. Right-click the Windows Key or Start Menu.

2. Choose System.

3. Your Device Name appears under Device Specifications.

Apple Devices

1. Click the Apple logo and select System Preferences.

2. Click on Sharing.

3. Your device name appears in the Computer Name field.
