Secure Your Phone or Tablet

Summary

A checklist for keeping your phone or tablet secure, since it's how you sign in to your NCU account with Microsoft Authenticator.

Body

Your phone is how you sign in to your NCU account, through Microsoft Authenticator. Use this checklist to keep your phone or tablet, and your account, safe.

Checklist

  • ☐ Lock it. Use a PIN, Face ID, or fingerprint, and set the screen to lock after a minute or two.
  • ☐ Keep it updated. Install iOS or Android updates when they come out.
  • ☐ Turn on Find My. Use Find My (iPhone) or Find My Device (Android) so you can locate or erase it if it's lost.
  • ☐ Get apps from the official store only. Use the App Store or Google Play, and don't jailbreak or root your phone.
  • ☐ Back it up. Use iCloud or Google backup so a lost phone doesn't mean lost photos and contacts.
  • ☐ Only approve sign-ins you started. If Authenticator asks out of nowhere, deny it.

Lost your phone or got a new one?

Report a lost or stolen phone right away. If you get a new phone, move Microsoft Authenticator to it before you reset the old one. See How To: Move Microsoft Authenticator to a New Phone.
