Hotel or Airport Wi-Fi: When the Sign-In Page Won't Appear

Summary

Learn how to get the sign-in or terms page to appear on hotel, airport, and coffee shop Wi-Fi, so you can actually get online.

Body

At hotels, airports, and coffee shops, you join the Wi-Fi and then a web page should pop up asking you to accept the terms or enter a room number. Until you do, you're “connected” but nothing works. Here's what to do when that page doesn't show up.

Make the page appear

1

Open a simple website

Open your browser and go to neverssl.com. It's built to trigger these sign-in pages.

2

Check your notifications

Windows: look for a Sign in to network notice by the clock. Phone: tap the Wi-Fi network name in Settings to open the sign-in page.

3

Disconnect your VPN

If GlobalProtect or another VPN is connected, disconnect it until you've signed in to the Wi-Fi.

4

Try a private window

Open a private or incognito window and go to neverssl.com again.

5

Forget and rejoin

Forget the network, join it again, and wait a few seconds. See How To: Forget a Wi-Fi Network and Reconnect.

Once you accept the terms, reconnect your VPN if you use one and try Outlook or Teams again.

Doing sensitive NCU work? Use your phone's hotspot instead of public Wi-Fi when you can.

Get help

Still can't get online? Ask the hotel or venue front desk. They manage that Wi-Fi. For NCU sign-in problems while traveling, call the IT Service Desk at 612.343.4170.
