Restart your computer
A restart clears memory and finishes waiting updates. If you usually just close the lid, restart at least once a week.

Close what you aren't using
Every open app and browser tab uses memory. Close the ones you don't need, especially video, Teams meetings you've left, and dozens of tabs.

Check what's using your computer
On Windows, press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager. On a Mac, open Activity Monitor from Applications > Utilities. Sort by CPU or Memory to see which app is using the most.

Check your free space
A nearly full drive slows everything down. Empty your Recycle Bin or Trash, clear your Downloads folder, and let OneDrive keep files online only. See OneDrive Sync Problems and Slow Uploads.

Only slow in your browser?
Only slow in one app?
Close and reopen it. For Teams, see Troubleshoot Microsoft Teams: Restart, Sign Out, and Clear the Cache. For other Office apps, see Office Says "Unlicensed" if Office is also showing errors.
