When your username can change

Your NCU username is based on your legal name as it appears on official university records. Active faculty, staff, and students can have it changed for two reasons only. Every request is verified by the Office of Innovation & Technology before any change is made.

Your name is misspelled
Your legal name changed

Your username doesn't match the correct spelling of your name.

Who submits: You

Your name changed legally and your username no longer reflects it.

Who submits: The Office of the Registrar or Human Resources

Misspelled name

  1. Submit an NCU Account request and include the correct spelling of your name.
  2. The Office of Innovation & Technology checks the spelling against your official university record.
  3. Once verified, the IT Service Desk makes the change and sends you your new username.
Is your name misspelled on your university record too? Contact the Office of the Registrar (students) or Human Resources (employees) to correct it first. Your username can only match what's on your record.
  1. Contact the Office of the Registrar (students) or Human Resources (employees) to change your name on university records.
  2. Once your name change is approved, that office submits the username change to the Office of Innovation & Technology.
  3. The IT Service Desk confirms the approval, makes the change, and sends you your new username.
You don't need to submit a request to IT for a legal name change. The Registrar or Human Resources handles it once your change is approved.
