Working from home? Use this checklist to keep NCU information as safe at home as it is on campus.
Your home network
- ☐ Change your router's default admin password.
- ☐ Use a strong Wi-Fi password with WPA2 or WPA3 security.
- ☐ Install router updates, or replace a router that no longer gets them.
Your devices
- ☐ Do NCU work on your NCU computer, not a personal one.
- ☐ Don't let family members use your NCU computer.
- ☐ Lock your screen whenever you step away, even at home.
- ☐ Restart regularly so updates install.
Your information
- ☐ Save work to OneDrive or Teams, not a USB drive. On an NCU computer, your Desktop, Documents, and Pictures folders already back up to OneDrive.
- ☐ Take calls about students or HR matters where others can't hear.
- ☐ Avoid printing sensitive information at home. If you must, shred it.
- ☐ Avoid public Wi-Fi for NCU work. Use your phone's hotspot instead.
See Handling Sensitive University Data for what counts as sensitive and where it can be stored.
