Overview
The NEC Phones will need to be reconfigured after a CX switch has been put into place. You will need to factory reset the phone, then set it up with the SIP address and License server address. You will also need to allow the bypass port to work.
Factory Reset
First you will need to Factory Reset the phone. Odds are the phone is stuck on DHCP connecting. If this is the case, then all you need to do is push the Menu button. If it is on the actual phone screen, then you will need to push Hold, Transfer, *, #, in that order. You will be prompted with a login screen.
- The username will be Admin and the password is 6633222.
- Select Maintenance Settings
- Select Data Clear.
- Select Factory Value
It will take a second to load before returning to the previous menu. Hit Save, then the phone will reboot.
Configuring the Phone
Once the phone reboots, you will need to go back into the menu again so that you can set up the phone. First, you will need to allow the bypass port to work with the new switches.
Bypass Port
- Select Network Settings.
- Select Advanced Settings.
- Select PC Port Settings.
- Select EAPOL Forwarding.
- Select Enable.
Hit Save, then go back to the main menu which displays Network Settings, SIP Server Settings, etc. (Should mean hitting exit 3 times). Next you will need to set up SIP Server Settings.
SIP Server Settings
- Select SIP Settings.
- Select Server Address & URI.
- Select 1st Server Address.
- Enter 172.17.254.251.
Hit Okay, then exit back out to the main menu again. Finally, you will need to enter the License Server address and settings. Not all NEC phones will have this option. Older models will automatically have the license server settings in them. If this is the case, then you can save and allow the phone to reboot.
License Server Settings
- Select License Settings
- Select Licesnse Server Settings.
- Select Server Address.
- Enter 172.19.11.37
- Hit OK
- Hit Exit
- Select License Request.
- Select Line Key.
- Select Line 16.
Once this is complete, you can exit and save all the changes, which will allow the phone to reboot. After rebooting, it should load as intended.
