Starting and Navigating Chats

Chats are one of the main collaboration options in Teams.  Chats can be one-to-one or many-to-many.

View a chat

• Select Chat and select a one-on-one or group chat from the chat list.

Start a chat

1. At the top of the app select New chat or right click on the Chat tab and select New Chat.
2. Type the name of the person or people you want to contact.
3. Select the down arrow to add a name to your chat group.

Make video and audio calls from a chat

Select Video call or Audio call in the upper right hand corner of a chat session to call someone directly from a chat. 

Use Recent, Pinning, and Contacts

On the left side of the app, you'll see your Recent conversations as well as your Contacts.

• Hover over a conversation, select the three dots, and then select Pin to keep your chat at the top of your Recent list.
• Hover over a conversation, select the three dots, and then select Add to Favorite Contacts to add people to your Contacts.
