Learn how to leave a team or group chat in Microsoft Teams that you no longer need, or hide it so it stays out of your way.
Leave a team
1
Find the team
In Teams, select Teams on the left.
2
Open the menu
Point to the team name and select More options (…).
3
Leave
Select Leave team, then confirm.
- Don't see Leave team? Class teams and some organization-wide teams can't be left. Hide the team instead.
- If you're the only owner, add another owner before you leave so the team isn't left without one.
Leave a group chat
1
Open the chat
Select Chat and find the group chat.
2
Leave
Point to the chat, select More options (…), then select Leave.
One-on-one chats can't be left, but you can hide or mute them.
Or just hide it
Select More options (…) > Hide on a team or chat. It stays out of your list, but you don't lose access. A hidden chat comes back if someone posts in it.
