How To: Run a Poll in a Teams Meeting

Learn how to ask a quick question in a Teams meeting with a poll, and see everyone's answers right away.

Create a poll during the meeting

1

Open Polls

In the meeting controls, select More (…) > Apps > Polls. If you've used it before, it shows as its own button.

2

Write your question

Select New poll, type the question and answer choices, and pick options like anonymous answers or multiple selections.

3

Launch it

Select Save, then Launch. The poll pops up for everyone in the meeting.

4

See the results

Results show in the Polls pane and in the meeting chat as people answer.

Get polls ready ahead of time

Open the meeting in your Teams calendar, open the meeting chat, and add Polls as a tab. Create your polls there and save them as drafts, then launch them during the meeting.

  • Polls are built on Microsoft Forms. Find past results at forms.office.com.
  • Quiz-style polls can show the correct answer after people respond.
