Adobe Software - Information and Purchasing

Adobe Creative Cloud software is only available as a subscription-based license and requires an annual renewal fee. Adobe Creative Cloud apps can be purchased individually or as a bundle (still as an annual subscription).  Typically, if you need more than one app, it is a better value to go with the full Creative Cloud suite.

Products like Acrobat Pro are purchased as a perpetual license or as a subscription; though, it is most often purchased as a subscription to ensure that it stays up-to-date and secure.

It is important to centralize the ordering process through IT to ensure the license can be renewed and transferred as needed.

Creative Cloud Licenses

Creative Cloud has two main licensing types.

Named-user license

A named-user license is assigned to a specific user with rights to install on up to two computers for work and home use. It includes access to Adobe online services.

Shared Device license

A device license is assigned to a computer rather than an individual user. It is the only way to allow multiple users on a single computer. It does not include access to online services. Device licenses are ideal learning spaces, labs, or computers where multiple users will be accessing the software at different times.  Employee devices are not eligible for these devices.

Standard quotes are valid for 30 days, with some exceptions. Pricing for Creative Cloud subscriptions will change monthly because the license is pro-rated to align with the annual expiration date.

Software Delivery / Installation

For Adobe Creative Cloud named-user licenses: The user will receive an email from Adobe with an invitation. The user must accept the invitation for the license to activate. The user can then install the software.

For Adobe Creative Cloud device licenses or perpetual licenses: An IT technician will install the license on the designated computer.

FAQ:
