You can add a video to a PowerPoint slide from your computer or from a website like YouTube.
Add a video from your computer
1
Pick the slide
Select the slide where you want the video.
2
Insert it
Select Insert > Video > This Device (on a Mac, Insert > Video > Movie from File).
3
Choose the file
Find the video and select Insert.
This embeds the video in your presentation, so it plays even if you move or share the file. Large videos make the file much bigger.
Link to a video file instead
Linking keeps your presentation smaller, but the video file has to go wherever the presentation goes. Keep the video in the same folder as your presentation.
1
Start the same way
Select Insert > Video > This Device and find the video.
2
Link it
Select the arrow next to Insert, then select Link to File.
Add a video from a website
1
Copy the link
Copy the video's web address, for example from YouTube.
2
Insert it
Select Insert > Video > Online Videos, paste the address, and select Insert.
Online videos need internet
A video from a website only plays when you're connected to the internet while presenting.
