Learn why your game console shows a Strict NAT type on the NCU network, and what that means for online play.
Strict NAT is expected on campus
The NCU network is shared by thousands of devices, so consoles connected to it show a Strict NAT type. There's no workaround, and IT can't change it for individual devices.
What NAT is
NAT (Network Address Translation) lets many devices share one internet address. Your home router does the same thing on a smaller scale. Consoles rate how open that connection is as Open, Moderate, or Strict.

Most online games still work. If a specific game won't connect at all, check the game's own support site for network requirements.
Is something else wrong?
If your console can't get online at all, the problem isn't NAT. Make sure it's registered. See How To: Connect a Smart Device to NCU WiFi.
