Overview
Before we can reset a users password, we first need to confirm their identity. This is done by asking them their security questions that they previously set up. This can only be done for students. Staff/Faculty will need to come to the desk, or have their credentials sent to their supervisor. We also do not perform this process for parents. These Security Questions are viewed in QuickLaunch Service Desk. This article will detail that process.
Viewing Security Questions
First, you will need to access Service Desk. This can be done by logging in to https://login.northcentral.edu, and selecting Service Desk.
Once you are here, you will be prompted to enter an email address or a username. Enter either one to pull up the account.
You must enter the exact username, or use wildcard parameters. Example: if you are searching for mrjanedoe1, but enter janedoe, the username will not appear. Entering *janedoe* will bring up the username because the mr and 1 are included in the * as a wildcard parameter. searching *devall will bring up addevall.
When you have located the username, click the Eye icon to bring up there account information.
Under the Find this user suspicious? section, you will find their security questions. Ask them all 4 questions. They must get at least 2 correct to pass the identity check. If they fail, then they will need to come to the desk to have their password reset.
Once they pass the identity check, generate a temporary password for them on the same page. Do not use Trigger Password reset email. This will generate a janky email that we haven't figured out how to fix yet. Give them the temporary password and have them change it.
