A MAC address (also called a physical or hardware address) identifies your computer's network connection. IT may ask for it when you connect with a cable or troubleshoot a network problem.
Your computer has a different MAC address for Wi-Fi and for a wired (Ethernet) connection. Use the one that matches how you're connecting.

Open network settings
Go to Settings > Network & internet, then select Wi-Fi or Ethernet.

Open hardware properties
Select Hardware properties (for Wi-Fi, select the network you're on first).

Find the address
Look for Physical address (MAC). It looks like A1-B2-C3-D4-E5-F6.

Open network settings
Go to Apple menu > System Settings > Network, then select Wi-Fi or Ethernet.

Open details
Select Details next to the connection.

Find the address
Look under Hardware for MAC address.
