Overview of GlobalProtect VPN Client

VPN (Virtual Private Network) lets you make a secure connection to a university's network from an off-campus, non-NCU connection (e.g. Coffee shop, airport, or personal internet connection). North Central uses GlobalProtect as our VPN Client. When you use NCU's VPN service, it makes your computer appear as though it is directly attached to NCU Network, and provides the same security and access to restricted resources that you have while on campus.

If you connect to the VPN on a deivce that was not provided by NCU IT, your access will be limited to certain resources.

When to use VPN

  • If you are trying to access Colleague or your Network Drives.
  • To make a secure connection (regardless of what you need to access) on a non-NCU connection (e.g. Coffee shop, airport, or personal internet connection).

When you Don't Need the VPN

  • If you are trying to access Email, Submit Time, OneDrive, Skyline, Submit a Ticket, download software through Software Center or Self Service.
  • Anything else not listed in 'When to use the VPN.
