Your Files Belong in OneDrive

OneDrive is the cloud storage included with every NCU Microsoft 365 account — students, faculty, and staff. Each account includes 5 TB of storage. Files saved there are backed up, available from any device, and easy to share.

Employees should store work files in OneDrive, not only on their computer. A file that exists only on one computer is lost if that computer fails, is lost, or is replaced.

NCU OneDrive vs. Personal OneDrive

Microsoft offers two kinds of OneDrive. They look almost identical, so check which account you are signed in with before saving university files.

  NCU OneDrive
  Personal OneDrive
Signed in with your @northcentral.edu account.

Use it for all university coursework and work files.

Managed and protected by NCU.
Signed in with a personal Microsoft account, such as Outlook.com or Hotmail.

For personal files only — never store university data here.

Not managed or supported by NCU.
Your NCU OneDrive does not stay with you after you leave.
It is tied to your university account and is removed after you leave NCU. Employees should hand off any work files others will need before their last day.

Ways to Get to Your Files

  Web Browser
  Computer
  Phone or Tablet
Go to microsoft365.com, sign in with your NCU account, and select OneDrive. Works on any computer with internet access.
The OneDrive app adds a OneDrive – North Central University folder to File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac). Files you make available offline can be edited without internet and sync when you reconnect.
Install the OneDrive app from the App Store or Google Play and sign in with your NCU account.

Sharing Files

Everything in your OneDrive is private until you share it. You choose exactly which files or folders to share and with whom, and you can stop sharing at any time.

  Inside NCU
  Outside NCU
Share with one person, a group, or everyone at NCU. Multiple people can edit Office documents at the same time.
Share with vendors, partners, or other guests by entering their email address. Only share what they need.
