Resetting your Password

Overview

Students who forget their NCU password are able to reset it without the need of contacting IT. This will require them to have first set up new Security Questions. If you had previously set up security questions within Atlas, these will not carry over to the new system and you will need to set up new questions. If you need to set up your Account Recovery Options, please visit: Setting Up Account Recovery Options

Forgot Your Password

If you forgot your password, you will be able to recover it using your recovery questions, email, and phone. To get started, visit https://login.northcentral.edu, then select Forgot Password.

After selecting Forgot Password, enter your NCU username into the field.

  • If you have not yet set up your Account Recovery options, you will need to contact the IT Service Desk to have your password reset.

After you enter your username, you will be asked two of the four of your security questions. If you fail to answer them correctly, you will have two more chances to correctly enter your security questions. If you fail the security questions 3 times, you will be locked out for 15 minutes. If you get locked out of your security questions, please contact the IT Service Desk.

After entering your security questions, you will then be able to select how you wait to receive your recovery code, via email or via phone. This depends on what you have set up. If you have not set up a recovery phone within your account, you will only be able to select email and vice versa.

You will then be sent a code from account@northcentral.edu to your phone or email. Enter that code once it has been received.

  • If you are not receiving the code, you must wait a full minute before you are able to send another code. If you sent a code via email, please ensure you are checking your spam and junk folders. If you are continuing to not receive a code after resending it multiple times, please contact the IT Service Desk.

Once you have received the code, enter it into the box provided to continue.

After the code has been entered, you will be able to reset your password. The requirements for password are as follows:

  • At least 1 lowercase letter.
  • At least 1 Uppercase letter.
  • At least 1 Number or Symbol.
  • 12 Characters in length.
  • Name cannot be in password.
  • No previous passwords can be used.

These requirements are in place to ensure you are creating a secure password to protect your NCU data.

Once you hit Submit, the password request will be processed.

Changing Your Password

If you know your NCU password and wish to change it, you may do so by logging into https://login.northcentral.edu.

Once you have signed in, select your name in the upper-right corner, then select My Account.

You will be prompted to re-enter your password. This is for security purposes to ensure no one can change your information but you.

Once you have re-signed in, you will be brought to a page where you can set up your account recovery options or change your password. Select Change Password.

Here, you can view when your pasword was last changed, when your profile was last updated, and when your account was registered. You can also change your password. Enter your current NCU password in the first box, then enter and confirm a new password. The requirements for password are as follows:

  • At least 1 lowercase letter.
  • At least 1 Uppercase letter.
  • At least 1 Number or Symbol.
  • 12 Characters in length.
  • Name cannot be in password.
  • No previous passwords can be used.

You will be presented with a message if your password was changed successfully.
