What you do
NCU computer
Microsoft Defender, managed by the Office of Innovation & Technology
Nothing. Don't install other antivirus, which can conflict with Defender.
Your own Windows PC
Microsoft Defender is built into Windows and free
Keep it turned on and let Windows update. Check in Settings > Privacy & security > Windows Security.
Your own Mac
macOS has built-in malware protection
Keep macOS updated and install apps only from the App Store or the maker's official site.

Fake virus warnings are scams

A pop-up or website that says your computer is infected and asks you to call a number or buy something is a scam. See Fake “Virus Detected” Pop-Ups in Your Browser.

Think something got in?

On an NCU computer, disconnect from Wi-Fi and call the IT Service Desk at 612.343.4170 right away. See Protecting Yourself from Malware and Ransomware.
