Compromised Accounts Support

If you suspect that your account has been compromised, report it immediately to IT.

For more information on what to do about compromised accounts, check our article What to do if your Account is Compromised. This article, along with other related articles, is linked in the sidebar under Related Articles.

How IT identifies compromised accounts

  • Reports from compromised users. Some compromised account reports lead IT to discover other affected account-holders. Because of this, please report any suspected account compromise, even if you’ve already changed your password.
  • System monitoring. Automated system monitoring alerts systems administrators to suspicious or unauthorized activity.
  • “Abuse” complaints. Complaints or alerts received from third parties about spam or network-based attacks coming from NCU accounts.

If IT suspects or detects that your account has been compromised, IT will immediately lock your account and scramble your password.  While we recognize this may cause a disruption or the denial of access to resources, it is crucial that IT is proactive to prevent unauthorized behavior. IT staff will contact you if an action has already been taken against your account.
