How to: Access a Shared Mailbox Using Office 365 (Outlook Online)

Overview

To access a shared mailbox in Outlook Online, the manager of the mailbox must make you a member of the shared mailbox group.  In some cases, IT is the manager of a mailbox.  You will need to contact IT for access to these mailboxes.

If the shared mailbox was recently created, wait at least two hours before following these instructions to access the mailbox.

Accessing a shared mailbox

  1. Go to https://outlook.office365.com
  2. Enter your North Central email account.
  3. You will be redirected to the North Central login page.
  4. Enter your North Central credentials.
  5. In the upper right of the screen, click your photo (or the round circle image).
  6. In the drop-down menu, click Open Other Mailbox.

  1. In the Open another mailbox dialogue box, enter the shared mailbox's email address.
  2. Select the shared mailbox, and click Open.

The shared mailbox will open in a new tab in your web browser.
